Never tried the steam roulette ?
Choose a random game you never played in your steam log (with bundles and other charity sales you probably have some) and finish it…
It can lead to some nice suprises (for exemple I never played EDF (Earth Defense Force) before but when it came on my holiday steam roulette last year, I suprisingly enjoyed this goofy and over-the-top buggy game) !

kind of what i do, cept i restrict myself to certain game types, like i only really like rpgs, sometimes like playing other things so i keep those in mind when i pick random things to play.

Daemon X Machina for the Switch is really good if you haven’t played it yet.
I’m playing FFVII port and the FFVIII Remake for the first time because I never got to play either as a kid. I couldn’t afford a PlayStation as a kid, you see.

Actually, I’m not sure whether you’d like DXM or not since I’m not all that familiar with your tastes. I recommend it if you haven’t tried it though, or at least to check out the trailer.

I’ve tried it. Most of the movement feels nice, but the auto aim + shitty melee system makes me sad.
FF games are against my religion.

I’m not too thrilled with the melee action either, and I’m still too early in the game even to have anything resembling auto-aim. To be perfectly candid, it’s kicking the shit out of me and I refuse to buy new games until I complete the last one I bought to avoid building up a backlog.
Really? I’d say that’s a shame but I don’t know. If I had to say, FF doesn’t seem to suit your style somehow anyway. Maybe it’s because it’s so straight forward? I dunno. Well, I’ve only played 1-8 and only the ports that I didn’t get to play as a kid. I can see how they wouldn’t appeal to everybody. The music at least is fantastic on FFVII.

Autoaim for DxM is there from the start. Basically, you’ll target the closest mech to your reticle regardless of whether you’re actually pointed at it granted you’re within a certain range.
Tbh my bigger problem with the game is how hard it tries to rip Gundam. The two people argueing at the start have Char and Amuro’s CVs respectively, and they bicker in a similar way. Just makes me roll my eyes.
Regarding FF, I actually like the older ones. I don’t think they aged well, but they were fun for the time. 6 was the last game in the series I really liked though. Imo, it just went downhill from there, and got especially bad starting from the PS2 era. Nowadays, I don’t think I’ll ever touch an FF game ever again.

I played all FF but FF11, FF12 by far my favorite….even with Van as the lead instead of Balthier. As for FF13…yeah, that was something and I played the trilogy. Then there are the spin-offs like Crisis core and Type 0, good times. Currently, I play FF14. Surely there is something there to your linking my Lord.

We do not share tastes. At all.
I wouldn’t play FF14 even if it was literally the last game left on the Earth. In fact, trying it was the nail in the coffin for me. It was what led me to make the decision to never again touch any FF game ever again for the rest of my life.

Same here. why not try some of the old games you used to play? Do you have Elder Scrolls Skyrim or Fallout 4? How about Mass Effect 1-2? If not, they’re really cheap to buy now! Or you could try ordering some books to read. @ of my favorite book series are by authors with the names of Tui T. Sutherland who wrote the Wings of Fire fantasy series, and Taylor Anderson who wrote the Destroyermen book series, which is a mix of WW2 history and sci-fi elements!

I don’t really consider those “old”. Old, to me, is from the 90s to early 00s. Games like Baldur’s Gate, Neverwinter Nights, or Deus Ex.

They might give it the Utawarerumono treatment eventually. Make a PS4Pro remake and destroy what was good about the game.

If you want to try some slightly older games available on multiple platforms and emulators, try Okami (PS2, PS4, Wii, etc.), Ratchet & Clank series (PS2, PS3, PS4, etc.), Patapon series (PSP/PSVita, PS4, emulators, etc.), Megaman Battle Network series (GBA, emulators), Monster Hunter Series, and the Civilization series. I know most of those are already pretty mainstream titles, but who knows it might pique your interest.

Oh I forgot to mention a recent find of mine. It’s a puzzling, philosophical, platformer by the name of The Talos Principle. The gameplay is fine, the puzzles are reasonably made with a couple difficult ones, but the story and questions it asks are what carries the game.

I feel you.
Been waiting for a new Nintendo Direct and hopefully a bit of Breath of the Wild 2 gameplay or at least anything new about it.
And what did we get? – another direct mini with – of course – no big announcements whatsoever.
Dunno if you already tried it or not but Warframe’s really good for wasting time in an enjoyable way. It’s free, you also won’t need to pay anything since it’d almost only accelerates the process rather than pay2win.

The fact that the boost dash it whatever it’s called in that game is very slightly off center makes it impossible for me to play it without throwing a fit. I just can stand how it almost but doesn’t go straight.

After some hours of playing it will feel like the most natural thing ever.
I do get what you mean though, put me really off when I first figured out how to dash.
Kinda like getting used to wearing glasses. At first you just can’t focus on anything else but the damn brick sitting on top your nose until you can’t take a step outside without them.
