We headed over to the inn the Beast Lord was staying at despite the fact that the sun had already started to set. We really wanted to get this over with and out of the way as soon as possible.

The reason I felt that way was because the Beast Lord struck me as an impatient person. There was a good chance he would just randomly up and leave because he no longer had any business in Ulmutt.

Our biggest blocker was that there was a chance we wouldn’t actually be allowed to see him given how late it was. We could always just sneak in, but that wasn’t really too great of an idea given he was currently staying at a super high class inn that typically housed royalty and whatnot.

Fortunately, my worries ended up being needless. The inn’s staff let us in the moment they heard Fran’s name because the Beast Lord had apparently told them to act upon her requests with the highest possible priority.

「Oh, hey Fran. What’s up?」

The Beast Lord raised a hand to give us a friendly greeting as we entered his room. The impression he was currently giving off was drastically different from his usual one. He was acting in the same manner as would any other easy-going man in his 30’s.

「Did you need me for something?」

「Nn. Looking for ship to visit Beastkin’s Country.」

「You’re planning to head over right away? That’s perfect, you can just hitch a ride with us ’cause we’re planning to head back soon anyway.」

Well uh, that happened.

I honestly wasn’t expecting him to immediately give us the green light. Allowing a stranger to join a group that included an incognito king really didn’t sound like that great of an idea. Royce seemed to share my opinion, as he immediately joined in on the conversation and voiced a complaint —

「Lord Rig, I believe you have may forgotten to complete one of the tasks on our agenda. You are a royal, and as such, it would be rude for you not to pay the King of Kranzel your respects after visiting his country.」

— Or so I thought. Turned out the reason he was interjecting wasn’t because he didn’t want Fran to accompany them, but rather, because they had more shit to do before actually leaving.

「Ugh, do I really have to?」

「Of course.」

Royce’s point was valid, the Beast Lord clearly had yet to fulfill all his duties as a king. We’d been planning on heading over to Kranzel’s royal capital as well, but only because we wanted to take part in the auction. I didn’t think it’d be realistic for us to follow him all the way to the royal capital before actually leaving the country, though it did seem like they’d probably hire us as guards if we asked them to.

「Fine, but then how are we supposed to accompany her back?」

「There is no need for us to personally escort her. She’s an adventurer, one strong enough to defeat Gold. She’ll be able to handle herself.」

「Eh, yeah, I guess you’re right.」

「Besides, all she asked for was for us to help her find a ship.」

「Huh, really?」

「Geez. I know that she’s about the same age as the princess, and that you’ve got quite the interest in her, but do pay more attention.」

「Princess?」

「He’s talking about my daughter. She’s 15 this year, and I really can’t help but see a bit of her in you.」

It seemed that the only reason the Beast Lord treated Fran as kindly as he did was because she reminded him of his own daughter.

「That said, I really would love for her to visit our country. I am sure our Master would be delighted to meet her.」

「Right?」

「We would also be able to put her to good use.」

Shit! He just said that right to Fran’s face! I was shocked at first, but a bit of further consideration led me to believe that Royce had said what he had on purpose. He wanted Fran to know that he would be using her for politics’ sake if she decided to visit.

Royce was one of the Beast Lord’s aides, and clearly highly competent. He wasn’t about to let Fran, a Black Catkin that’d actually managed to evolve, slip right through his fingers. He knew and wanted to take advantage of the fact that revealing her to his country’s people would cause their attitudes to make unprecedented swings and changes.

「Will run away if gets too bad.」

「Hahahahaha! They’d probably need to send someone at least as strong as me after you if you actually got serious about wanting to escape our grasp.」

「That’s fine. We are not requesting that you become one of Lord Rig’s vassals, after all. Personally, I was considering that we could just… help each other out. All we need is for you to demonstrate that you and Lord Rig get along.」

Yeah, that doesn’t really sound too bad at all.

「To that end, I will be giving you this.」

「This?」

The thing Royce handed Fran seemed to resemble a thin sheet of metal with some sort of crest engraved on it.

「The item I just gave you is an identification card bearing both Lord Rig’s name and my own. Many of our country’s merchants frequently travel between Barbra and our motherland. The card I just gave you should allow you to board any one of them with ease.」

「Really?」

「Really. Just look for a ship with our crest engraved on it, and you should be good to go.」

It seemed we somehow managed to get ourselves into what we considered the ideal situation. We were pretty much set.

Apparently, Barbra had a boat set sail for the Beastkin’s country about once every three days. The ones we were looking for, the ones with the country’s crest with a crown mounted on top, worked directly under government supervision. Showing them the crest we were given would cause them to not only let us on board, but also treat us as they would a guest of honour.

In other words, they’d given us something much more convenient than what we’d been expecting.

「To be frank, I doubt the crest we’ve given you is even necessary. Most of our country’s merchants have already likely learned both of your name and your appearance. I can all but guarantee that they would allow you to board so long as you just asked.」

That was true and all, but having something that was actually 100% guaranteed was much better than something that was just highly likely.

I was completely satisfied with the whole boat ordeal now, so the only other thing we really wanted to know was the info they promised us about the god-tier blacksmith.

「Question. God-tier blacksmith, located where?」

「That’s something that shouldn’t be too hard to figure out after you get there.」

「We have already issued an order for you to be given a letter of introduction upon your arrival. Unfortunately, that is all we can do. There is no guarantee that the smith will be willing to see you even with the letter.」

「Oh yeah. Try telling that smith to actually handle our shit if she ends up taking a liking to you.」 [1]

It seemed the god-tier blacksmith had a rather free spirit seeing as how she was willing to turn down even the king’s requests.

I couldn’t really make any guarantees, but personally, I was willing to put in a good word or two for the Beast Lord and his buddies if the blacksmith really did end up liking us, so I didn’t see any issue in accepting their request.

「Nn.」

「Alright, good luck with everything.」

「Our master is currently residing within the palace. You should be able to find her with ease so long as you make your way towards our capital.」

「Got it.」

      1. to borrow a bit from the xanxia crowd, the f5 sect is made up of peerless and invincible cultivators.

anyways onto the real thing i wanted to say, you do you with chapter releases, i frankly appreciate the regular releases but, i think some fear you burning out…

read way to many series have seen it happen way too many times, then again though your pace seems… well idk i dont translate but based on schedules i have seen with other series: fast, but not burn out insanely fast.

there was an entire meltdown over on wuxiaworld over “Hevenly Jewel Change” project had fallen to borderline inactive, mind you the TLer for that project isnt very vocal as to what’s going on with him/why he takes breaks but, you see alot of entitled pricks DEMANDING they be given explanations.

seen that about well over a dozen times… rather over a dozen series the exact instances of that level of entitlement is just too damn high, 99.9% of those bitching and moaning about no releases or slow releases are typically leechers too.

anyways all that negative bs aside, thanks again for the chapter!~

So yeah, even you’re impatient I advise to avoid google translate

Getting a ride was pretty easy this time. I’m waiting for Fran and Kiara to meet and have a conversation in Fran’s usual manner.

    Thanks for the chapter.

  2. I honestly would prefer that you stay with the current translation release. Only if you have the time to do it. I enjoy both novel TKSD and NNY, so I respect the decision you make for it. Yet, I would really like more if you stay with the current way. Keep it up with the good work, and allowing us to enjoy this novel.
(Started the novel last week and I catch up yesterday so My hype is still up)

  3. I think your release should be as fast as you are able, or want it to be. If it doesn’t negatively impact your life, you’re good at it, and you enjoy it, then a higher release speed it fine. But if you want to slow down, there are no complaints, in my opinion, so the ball is in your court I suppose.

realization from this chapter was wondering if Celldio had info on God Swords they should have info on the Smiths as well, as such they could have targeted them. This chapter somehow answered part of it – Known Smiths are jerks lol

  5. As long there isn’t a risk of translator burn out I don’t see any reason to slow down. If there is though I think the last thing anyone wants to see is that happen and be at risk of going back to the low quality translations we were getting before you picked it up. I mean I appreciate the effort of them trying but sometimes it really is just better not to do it at all at a certain point.

I have to admit, it’s not often you get asked to release chapters slower. Personally I’m happy with your current pace and I’d feel shameless/rude if I asked for anything otherwise. A happy translator leads to happy readers — or so I like to think.

    1. I asked for stable release rate for
      1) reader discussion
      2) readers also read other series

Stable means to not release too fast the translator burns out. Too many translators make this mistak leading to abandon projects.

      Like

      1. Your reason is just plain egoistical
        1) You can still discuss the chapter no matter the pace, in fact there’s more to discuss with more chapter released.
        2) Its up to the readers who read other series what they use their time for. They can still either read leasurely or marathon it if they want to catch up. No need to slow down just to keep it with YOUR pace.

People already asked Tentacle to release at his own leasure without the rushing it. It was Tentacle himself who choose to release at this pace. You’re the one who asked him to change it for your own selfish reason

        Like

      2. I made some wrong predictions, but some other readers spoil then with spoilers. It’s hard to discuss when others are ahead in the story.

        Like

      3. Unless there’s a rule of no spolers allowed, there’s always going to be a risk of spoiler if you’re visiting a WN/LN/manga discussion, even when the translation haven’t reach that point because some people can read raws. If you want to be a purist just don’t visit them. As simple as that.

If you still visiting despite knowing the risk, its your own fault. It also help if you’re posting that you’ve only read until chapter XX so pls don’t spoil me, etc. Otherwise, keep your “prediction” by yourself when you know you haven’t read until the latest translated chapter, because its no longer a prediction for the readers who already knows what happened.

Asking translator to slowdown just because you haven’t keep up with the latest translation is just being selfish

      4. The important point is the unnumbered one. Releases should not be a pace where a translator would burn out. Burn out translator leads to dropped projects.

      3. https://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/reincarnation#English
Incarnate comes from the same root as Carnal. It specifically relates to flesh. It is the opposite of divinity. Flesh is basically what a human is if you remove everything mystical about them. Divinity is basically the world if you remove everything tangible and mundane from it. Assuming that such things are possible… To reincarnate is to become fleshy once again, a fleshy god could do it, but it would only be referring to their fleshy parts. The rest of their godliness returning would be covered by a different term, perhaps something more generalist in terms of manifestation, like rebirth. Of course rebirth is more specific in terms of origin, specifically that the subject actually has an origin, which is a pretty comfortable assumption but once you start talking about gods the rules can get a bit arcane… Point being that if it doesn’t have a fleshy form and just sort of came into being with no actual source of its coming into being involved then it has neither been reborn nor reincarnated so you have to start looking for even more terms like materialisation or manifestation or what have you, but they are almost all inclusive in some way or another…

But anyway, the identifying mark of something reincarnating as opposed to any other form of return is that it is fleshy. There are heavy implications of new fleshy, as in a different load of flesh rather than just a renewal of the old flesh, but the fleshiness is the key feature.

        Like

      4. Guest, one of the words used to describe spirit beings and abstract notions gaining flesh is “to incarnate”. With no “re-“.

Honestly, while I kind of get what required is saying, I don’t think it is necessary to slow down translations. Don’t get me wrong though I am by no means saying you have to maintain your current rate considering this is something you are doing in your free time. But slowing down translations for more reader discussion might not be the best idea considering that the number of people who actually take the time and brainpower to write a comment is much lower compared to the number of hits the page actually gets. As for readers reading other series……. sorry but I honestly don’t understand what you mean by that required. I do though get what you mean regarding stable releases. While I love getting new chapters of one of my favorite series quickly, I don’t want that to come at the price of the translator getting worn out.

So I think you should just continue at whatever pace you prefer. If you want to continue at this pace then go for it, just don’t forget to give yourself a break every once in a while.

This doesn’t mean you’re obligated to keep it up. So long as you’re fine with it and you don’t burn out, or it doesn’t interfere with work/school/life in general, then I’d say to keep it up. I’m sure most people, like myself, are very grateful for all the work you put in and appreciate how consistent you are.

I know everyone else already said it before and better, but I love your fast release schedule, but don’t burn yourself out. You are doing us all a great service, so just go at a pace that works for you. Don’t want you to get burned out.

  27. There is a lot of talk about slowing releases. Most people will tell the content-producer that they can do whatever they want. This is completely accurate and good. But there is a problem. Often, the most important element of persistence, is consistency. And interrupted schedule can hurt far more than a pressured schedule or an interruption in the content. But then again, sometimes such things aren’t an issue, or the pressure would just kill the fun and murder the project instantly. It all comes down to the individual’s process. You can burn out from underwork too…

So my thoughts are that the translator should decide(and by all appearances they already did long ago) if they want to do this project. If they do, then they should probably do whatever works, rather than whatever is most fun or convenient. Of course, in many cases fun and convenient is what works, so there is no conflict…
